It’s been an incredible journey so far, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to since officially starting MakeShift Interactive. When we envisioned this studio, it wasn’t just about making games—it was about creating a platform to tell stories that resonate deeply with players, push boundaries, and make a lasting impact.

Defining Our Purpose

Our mission at MakeShift Interactive has always been clear: to craft emotionally-driven, narrative-rich games that inspire and connect with players. As I’ve set out to build the studio, we’ve embraced this purpose, channeling it into every decision we’ve made, from defining our first project to establishing the culture we want to cultivate.

Setting the Stage

Starting an indie studio is no small feat, but it’s a challenge we’ve embraced with open arms. Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work:

  • Conceptualizing Our First Game: We’re creating a game that combines impactful storytelling with innovative gameplay, one that we hope will stay with players long after the credits roll.

  • Building a Collaborative Team: We’ve connected with experienced developers, advisors, and creatives who share our vision and passion for emotionally resonant games and we are eager to have more people joining us in a near future.

  • Laying the Foundation for Growth: From production pipelines to brainstorming narrative structures, we’ve focused on creating a strong foundation that will carry us through the development process.

Embracing the Challenges

Starting out has been by far one of the toughest journeys we’ve been in. From apply and negotiating funding to navigating the early stages of development, every day has brought its own set of lessons. But each challenge has reinforced our commitment to the MakeShift mission: to bring impactful, authentic stories to the gaming world whilst enhancing work best practices for people in the Studio.
